End of An Era: Geocities Closes Down Today.

It’s been known for quite some time now, but Geocities has finally closed it’s doors today. I had spent many many hours on that old Geocities web page of mine. From keeping my first “blog” to even hosting bishopnoll.net, it will never be forgotten. It was my first web page and I will always cherish the valuable experience it provided and the ability to do that as a kid without any money.

Thanks, Geocities. You and my first site will be missed.

Just a few of the pictures I found buried in the process of backing up my old site.

I found the old Duck Hunt flash site as well.. loaded with almost a year of entries. 2003 was not a good year for me, I can tell you that already. I made plenty of mistakes that year and I can only look back on it and laugh.

rain all you want, okinawa.

October 25th, 2009

While it has finally cooled off over here, we were also greeted with almost nonstop rain the last few days.
As for my blog’s appearance, you can see I changed things up a bit. Spent quite a bit of time getting it to a point where I’d accept it. I just noticed that this new theme does NOT like my video plugin so I’m pretty distraught about that. Hopefully I can fix it soon.

Friday night bingo with the Donley’s.

Colby, Roebuck, Bell, and V

First shot of Hennessey for the night.

Kaori and I.

Barns and I getting down with Walter (the name of the snake/shot that resides at the bottom of her Habu Sake jar)

I remember that this was a look I gave to a random Japanese girl playing with my camera after ordering more drinks.
She captured that moment.

Nao’s ready to sleep already.

put me in the game.

What an adventure! Couldn’t have asked for any more job satisfaction and still had plenty of fun!

Bell and I getting our first drink in before checking in our 32KG and 42KG overweight luggage. Costing us $1700 and $2200 dollars respectively. Thanks Air Force.

Not quite sure what to watch out for…

Guess where we are?

Typical Japanese pose in Taiwan.

Coloring.

Too small.

Does it really need to be the same font size as the Welcoming Message?

Outside the Hotel Gran Melia in Jakarta for a night before hitting the epicenter.

Raining and sitting under the wings waiting to board the C-12 to Bandang.

Deployable Communications.

Donley looking terrible after waking up from a long night and few hour “nap”.

Flushing the toilet.

Bell riding one of our Special Tactics bikes around.

Aboard the USS Denver.

Setup at Hotel Bandang for US Embassy and DoD members (NCIS, OSI)

You have no idea how stoked I was for staying the night in the worst hotel room ever, just for a shower. Not even a good one.
Also… you had to pour water in this toilet to flush as well.

SHARK setup outside for internet/phone capabilities.

Dunno exactly what this was… I just know that one of the NCIS drivers had picked me up one and it was delicious. Some kind of keish of some sort.

Indonesian/English translators at the hotel.

Maj Traxler.

Resting with Bell at the Hotel Bandang when he came the next day to take my place.

One of the MRE’s rare items.

Capturing a Kimono dragon at our operations building/home.

One of our birds.

Bell checking in at the hotel in Jakarta where I had made it there the night before.

Working the radios and in direct communication with our birds.

New watch and kicking it with free alcohol in the bar from 5pm to 8pm.

Gran Melia.

Vicky and Jeff at X2.

Vita and myself at X2. I managed to screw this picture up big time.

Simple enough.

Bell and I getting lost in “Chinatown” and ended having a great time at a place called Sydney 2000.

Back at X2 the next night.

After going through emigration in Malaysia since we missed our flight to Taipai and would have to fly out the next day.
My favorite country! What luck!

Carl’s Jr.

What doesn’t belong?

After spending an extra day wearing the same clothes running around trying to get home after a missed flight… “They damn well better not make it any harder to get out of here!”

Luck! Emergency row!

Sad and afraid?

Me waiving to Bobby on the other side of the emigration in Japan after they wouldn’t let him through since he lost his military ID card.

home again in okinawa.

October 19th, 2009

Made it home Sunday night. Was supposed to make it home the night before, but Bell and I managed to miss our flight and we had to spend the evening in Kuala Lumpar. Not a bad mistake, huh?

indonesia.

October 8th, 2009

Around lunch time today, Bell and I were told we were going to Indonesia for the earthquake relief. Turns out… we leave tomorrow morning.

I don’t know what to expect.

Harper and Felicia.

V’s battle scars.

congrats v.

October 3rd, 2009

Just before midnight, while at the bowling alley, we made sure everyone know that V was being promoted to Senior Airman. This called for the tradition of tacking on those new stripes to his shoulders.

After a crazy week of work for some of us and out processing for a certain individual, we all needed for the weekend to come quickly!
