salerno butter cookies.

September 18th, 2009

We’re about winding down our operations here and getting ready to pack our things up. BTW, thanks again Air Force for sending me to Korea for the 7th time. That being said, I’m looking forward to getting back home and enjoying the rest of the Okinawan summer.

For some weird reason though, I’m craving some Salerno Butter Cookies right now. Anyone want to send me some?

new routine.

Time finally seems to finally fly by…

5:30pm: Wake up

6:00pm to 6:45pm: Cardio room

6:45pm to 7:00pm: Shower and change into work uniform

7:00pm: Chow hall for breakfast (dinner)

8:00pm to 8:00am: Work

8:15am: Sleep

another worst TDY candidate to the list…

It’s been a few days. A few rough days.
But, I’m in Korea once again.

Staying awake for 38 hours straight working for this exercise was only the beginning to this madness. Sleeping for 5 hours after that and putting in another 18 hour shift and I’m sure you can understand where my mental state has clearly fallen.

Crappy dorms, crappy work location, and being locked to a compound only make things that much worse. The only thing going for this exercise is the weather, no chemical gear, and being with some good friends and co-workers. Hey, I don’t even hate Felicia as much while she’s here as well.

“Embrace the suck.”, as we’d say in the military when dealing with almost borderline insane requests.

I’ll be home in 2 to 3 weeks…

Roebuck after almost being awake for 24 hours.

Waiting for our airplane to be ready after spending all night getting our pallet and equipment ready.

Sleeping people love donuts.

I look terrible in this picture, but being awake for a whole day and plenty of physical labor is probably a good enough reason.

Oh, and I’m fat.

Spending 3 hours in a loud jam packed C-130 sitting sideways on cargo net seats.

sitting and waiting, when I should be…

… unpacking and finishing my move.
… packing my clothes and etc for the TDY I leave for tomorrow.
… enjoying Labor Day by not working.

Any of these are acceptable things I should be doing right now. But instead, I’ve been at work all day getting everything together for the last minute deployment.

donley’s.

After the lack of power fiasco, I wasn’t in the mood to move things around and unpack. I did however throw away that old set of rims/tires that have sat in that room forever. I went over to the old apartment and gathered some things, took a shower (kinda nice being able see), and ate some lunch there.

Tonight, I’m back here at Donley’s apartment kicking back and relaxing…

umm… what?

September 5th, 2009

This morning, I woke up in my dorm for the first time in over a year and a half. Stumbling into the bathroom, I flipped the light switch and was surprised to complete darkness. Flipping the remaining switches in hopes that I just got the wrong one, I was still left in the dark. I decided to trust my faithful aim according to sound and did my business. Afterwards, I investigated into why my bathroom lights weren’t working and realized that my whole room didn’t have power.

Upon further review… the whole dorms didn’t have power.

Apparently they had a scheduled outage from 7am until 6pm.

WTF?

goya’s.

Took a break from unpacking and went to Goya’s house for some drinks and spades.
